1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GetJoyBox ("we", "us", "our", available at getjoybox.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

GetJoyBox is a gift registry and event-planning platform for baby showers, birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations. The core product is free: creating registries, sharing them by link, guest lists, RSVPs, invitations, and planning tools. Optional paid upgrades are described in section 5. Registries can be shared via a unique link, and guests may view registries, claim items, and RSVP without creating an account.

3. User Accounts and Co-hosts

You must create an account to build a registry. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

A registry owner may invite co-hosts, who can edit the registry and see its guest information. The owner is responsible for choosing co-hosts appropriately and can remove them at any time; co-hosts must treat guest information with the same care these terms require of the owner.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or attempt to misuse the platform.

4. Your Content and Acceptable Use

You are solely responsible for the content of your registry - item names, descriptions, links, images, event details - and for the information you provide about other people, such as guest names and email addresses. Only add people to a guest list or invitation who would reasonably expect to hear about your event, and never upload information about others you have no right to share.

You agree not to: include content that is illegal, misleading, harassing, or infringes third-party rights; make false claims or reservations on registries; scrape or bulk-harvest registry pages or guest endpoints; attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls; or use the platform to send spam.

We are not responsible for the availability, pricing, accuracy, or delivery of any product listed on a registry - purchases of registry items happen on the retailer's site, between you and that retailer.

5. Purchases, Payments, and Refunds

Optional paid upgrades. GetJoyBox sells one-time registry upgrades (for example "Invites from your name" and the "Big Day Pass"). Prices are shown at checkout in CAD or USD depending on your registry's currency. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.

Refunds. A one-time upgrade is refundable within 14 days of purchase, provided its perks have not yet been used (for example sending branded invitations, attaching a custom domain, or enabling verified guest access). Email hello@getjoybox.com from your account address to request one. Voluntary tips support the free product and are not refundable, but contact us about any mistaken payment and we will make it right.

Gifts between guests and hosts. Cash gifts and fund contributions move directly between guests and registry owners (for example Interac e-Transfer). GetJoyBox never receives, holds, transmits, or guarantees that money - we only record what guests and hosts tell us. A recorded pledge is not a confirmation that money was sent or received; verify transfers in your own bank account.

6. Affiliate Disclosure

GetJoyBox participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means to earn fees by linking to Amazon.ca and other Amazon marketplaces (such as Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com.au, and Amazon.de) and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate, GetJoyBox earns from qualifying purchases made through affiliate links on this site - at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate links may also appear in our Registry Guides (blog content). Product recommendations are selected editorially and independently - affiliate commissions never influence which products we recommend.

7. Privacy

How we collect, use, share, and delete personal information - including guest data, children's information, analytics, and AI features - is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Public registries are accessible to anyone with the link - do not include sensitive personal information in public registry fields.

8. AI Features

Some features use AI to generate suggestions - registry ideas, budget estimates, thank-you note drafts, and translations. AI output can be wrong: review suggestions before relying on them, and edit drafts before sending them. Prices, product details, and planning figures shown by AI features are estimates, not commitments.

9. Intellectual Property

All original content on GetJoyBox - including guides, editorial copy, and the platform design - is owned by GetJoyBox. You retain ownership of content you create (registry names, item descriptions, photos, notes). By using the service, you grant GetJoyBox a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and process that content as needed to run the features you use: showing your registry to people with the link, including it in the public directory if you opt in, rendering share previews and invitation cards, generating AI suggestions you request, translating pages on request, and allowing search engines to index registries you choose to list.

If you believe content on GetJoyBox infringes your intellectual property, email hello@getjoybox.com with the registry link and details, and we will investigate and remove infringing content where appropriate.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

GetJoyBox is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, data accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use the service at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GetJoyBox and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including lost data, failed registry sharing, gifts or transfers between guests and hosts, or third-party purchase issues.

12. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts as described in section 3. On deletion or termination, your registries and their upgrades cease to function; paid upgrades are tied to the registry they were bought for and are not transferable. Refunds after termination follow section 5.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.
