What a Wedding Costs in Canada: 2026 City-by-City Data

The same 100-guest wedding costs roughly twice as much in Toronto as it does in Calgary. The tables below are the city-by-city dataset behind our free wedding budget calculator, published here so anyone - including journalists - can use it.

The per-plate gap

Plated catering in the Greater Toronto Area typically runs $150 to $250 per plate, while most of the rest of the country sits at $75 to $150. Catering scales with every guest, which is why guest count moves a Canadian wedding budget more than any other single decision - and why 300-plus-guest cultural celebrations work on completely different math.

Methodology

Each city carries a cost factor against a national baseline. Ranges reflect a typical 100-guest wedding with a dinner reception. Figures are compiled from public Canadian sources - venue and catering rate cards, published market data, and Statistics Canada reference data - and re-verified periodically (most recently 2026-08-16). They are planning ranges, not quotes: a specific venue, date, and season can move any line.

The same dataset powers our city-aware budget calculator, so published figures and calculator output can never diverge.
